Certificate Course on Community Outreach and Social Marketing of Eye Care Services'' at LAICO 15th June till 14th July
LAICO, the Training and Consultancy unit of Aravind Eye Care System (LAICO-AECS), a WHO collaborating centre, is going to offer its 23rd four weeks programme on ''Certificate Course on Community Outreach and Social Marketing of Eye Care Services'' beginning on 15th June till 14th July, 2008.
The course is aimed at people responsible for managing outreach programmes and eye camps in Government, Private, NGOs and Charitable hospitals. It is designed to develop knowledge and skills for developing capacity to plan and manage effectively outreach programmes.
Participants will have the opportunity to hear lectures from various experts at LAICO-AECS. Besides the lectures the course also incorporates Group exercises, Case study discussions, Brainstorming, Role Plays, Case Analysis, and Experience sharing sessions, Field visits, and Presentations.
The course Fee is Rs. 7,500 for participants from India and Nepal. For participants from other countries the course fee is US$250. The course fee covers the course materials, teaching aids, field visits only. The stay and food cost is to be borne by the candidates for which we will help to make the arrangements here.
The total number of seats is restricted to 15 to facilitate close interaction, personal mentoring and better learning and Internalization.

Objectives: The main objective of the course is to introduce potential Eyecare researchers to basic research concepts. These include Basic epidemiology, Research Methodology and Design; Evidence based research, Introductory Statistical measures, Analysis and Presentation of Data.
Target Audience: Eyecare Professionals, Project Managers in public, private and Non-Governmental Sectors. Research Managers, Post-Graduate Students, Teaching Hospital personnel.
