Privacy policy

The CEHJournal app has been built as a Free app. The Community Eye Health Journal (CEHJ) respects the privacy of all our readers and visitors to our website, and we comply with the strict guidelines set out in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the way we gather and protect your data.

We will only hold personally-identifiable information about you (e.g., name, address, telephone number, email address) if you have provided it to us voluntarily (via post, email, or our email newsletter and subscription forms on the website) in order to allow us to provide you with content from the CEHJ – whether by post, email, online or our mobile phone app. All such information is held securely and in accordance with GDPR rules. Please write to us at [email protected] if you want us to end your subscription and delete your personal information.

When a new issue is published, we will update the content in the CEHJ mobile and web apps. If you have allowed notifications (in Settings inside the app), you will receive a notification/alert when we publish a new issue, a new article, or an important correction to an existing article. You have the option to turn off notifications for our app on your phone. You can uninstall the CEHJ mobile phone app at any time.

If you have created a Library account within the CEHJ mobile phone app, the information we hold for you is your email address, the date you created the account, the date you last logged in and the content of your library. This information is held securely, in accordance with GDPR regulations, and passwords are encrypted. We use this information to provide you with secure access to the Library function in the app, which enables you to bookmark, download and organise content according to your needs. Your content is safe, even if something happens to your phone. Please write to us at [email protected] if you want us to remove your account.

The CEHJ is published by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). For more information, please consult the LSHTM data protection policy, which also explains the School’s approach to privacy and security. Information about how this applies to the Community Eye Health Journal is available on www.cehjournal.org/privacy-policy.
