The vision of Light for the World (previously Dark & Light Foundation) is that everywhere in the world, people should not have to fear becoming and staying needlessly blind and people with a disability should be able to live a life of dignity. Our mission is dedicated to eliminating avoidable blindness and improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the poorest and least served communities in developing countries.

Light for the World supports the journal because the purpose of the journal  is to provide eye health workers in developing countries with up-to-date information to help them deliver the best possible quality of eye care to the poorest and most needy communities. The journal provides local eye workers with information and teaching aids, they could otherwise not access. The journal is an important tool in achieving the VISION 2020 goals.

Sightsavers' mission is to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote equal opportunities for people with disabilities. We work with local partners in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

We see the Community Eye Health Journal as a unifying medium that connects eye health practitioners with related research and evidence while also providing examples of good practice from all over the world. Sightsavers considers the ‘Journal’ an excellent example of knowledge management in the eye health sector and thus is committed to supporting its dissemination and diffusion of learning across regions and countries.
