Ending trachoma: ensuring high quality training for trichiasis surgeons

There are 5 core aspects of trichiasis surgery training which will help to ensure high-quality outcomes and, ultimately, achieve the WHO target of 2020 for the global elimination of blinding trachoma:

  1. Trainer selection
  2. Programme duration
  3. Classroom instruction
  4. Skills practice prior to live surgery
  5. Live surgery practice
  6. Certification
