Eye care human resources: are there gender issues?
In this fascinating article from 2009, Paul Courtright from the Kilimanjaro Centre for Community Ophthalmology discusses why men and women in the eye health care workforce are sometimes not supported and paid equally and may not have similar performance levels. He also addresses what can be done about this issue and why it is so important – by addressing gender issues in human resource development we will strengthen all of our eye care human resources more effectively. Our eye patients will be the ones who benefit.
