FLYING TULIPS
Flying Tulips is a travel grant programme aimed at ophthalmologists in training and junior ophthalmologists who are working in low budget countries and are interested in the prevention of global blindness.
The objective of Flying Tulips is to provide partial support for travel and attendance at the meeting of the International Council of Ophthalmology in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from 21-26 June, and the meeting of the International Society of Geographical and Epidemiological Ophthalmology in Noordwijk, The Netherlands from 26-27 June 1998.
Applications for the travel grant should contain a short curriculum vitae, the endorsement of the candidate’s training programme director, demonstrated potential for personal involvement in the prevention of blindness in the country of origin and estimated costs of travel and attendance at the meeting. The maximum grant available is US$2,000.
Flying Tulips, initiated by Dutch ophthalmologists, has an Advisory Group, which approves grants: Prof A F Deutman, Prof A Sommer, Dr P Courtright, Prof H Taylor, Dr S Guramatunhu, Dr S C Gupta, Prof. J S Stilma.
