Senegal action plan to promote NTD health messages

Last year, the Senegal Ministry of Health (MOH) and the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) ran a training week to enhance media interview skills on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) for staff:

“Over two days, Ministry of Health officials learned how to collaborate with the media to educate people at risk of contracting NTDs on ways to prevent and to treat these devastating diseases. The media training included interactive instruction on different types of media, message development sessions, and mock media interviews that were recorded and played back with critique. Participants practiced condensing long, complicated messages on NTDs into succinct, accurate messages that could translate well for television, radio and print interviews. By the end of the training, MOH and NGO participants agreed on an action plan to engage more proactively with journalists.”
